have a thanksgiving.

"There are three levels of faith—little faith that says, 'God can.' Great faith that says, 'God will.' Perfect faith that says, 'God has done it.' Every eye has not seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him. Jesus declared, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me." A cheerful look brings joy to the heart so obey God, and leave all the consequences to Him."

Reflection of attitude

In Isaiah 58:1-12, the people of Israel are rebuked by God through the prophet Isaiah for giving “lip service” to Him and for living for themselves and not truly worshipping God. We live in a consumer culture society. Our society has a mentality that if you accumulate certain material things, your life is better. This promotes superficiality. And this leads many people who go to church, only do so because they feel it is an obligation. Certain people go to church only to avoid feeling guilty. In the book of Isaiah, the people appear to be worshipping God by fasting and using the day of Sabbath for worship, but God is not pleased with all this. In verse 2 of this passage, it says: “Yet they act so pious! They come to the Temple every day and seem delighted to hear my laws. You would almost think this was a righteous nation that would never abandon its God. They love to make a show of coming to me and asking me to take action on their behalf.”

When we come to the Lord, our desire should be to align our hearts with God. We have to meet God where He is and not make God meet us where we are. Our desire should be for God’s will be done even it means for our will to be crushed. We have to practice justice rather than injustice. Genuine worship of God involves how you treat others and how often you think about meeting the needs of others. In verse 4 of this passage, it says: “What good is fasting when you keep on fighting and quarreling? This kind of fasting will never get you anywhere with me.” We have to beware of superficial worship with our words and attitudes. We cannot fall into the trap of praising God every Sunday and do superficial things and only fool ourselves into thinking we are doing it for God when we only have ulterior motives.

Authentic worship leads us to be aligned with God. We have to practice the heart of God and ignore the enemy’s temptations because the power of God is in us. We cannot just worship God at our convenience. This will only lead us to fall. But when you yield your heart to Him, you will experience His power. When we meet with God, we develop a compassion for others. We need to open our eyes to the needs of others. While our own needs are important and can’t be ignored, we cannot live to serve only ourselves without any regard for other people. Obedience to God is more than just prayer and worship. Genuine worship comes every day with how well we practice what Christ teaches us.
